what's going out it can be a lot so i'm here to make your life a little bit easier and give you a list of the top things that i've researched for this year that are predicted to make some awesome sales i'm primarily getting this information from two sources that's the etsy marketplace insights for 2022 and pinterest predicts which is a great website for predicting upcoming trends for the year i'm going to be running through these pretty quickly so you may want to grab a notepad and take some notes as we go through all right there's no better place to start than etsy's color of the year which for 2022 is emerald green some words to describe this color are rich earthy royalty refinement and growth you're going to want to think about how you can incorporate the color emerald green into both your products and your photography or your merchandising another great color of the year to look at is pantone's color of the year which for 2022 is called very peri this color is described by pantone as a bold periwinkle with undertones of violet and red now this leads us into our next color trend which is also from the etsy marketplace insights which is talking about balancing the stronger tones like emerald green with pastel colors that report states that there's been a 2 627 increase year on year compared to last year for the keyword phrase pastel room decor when there's a huge spike in a keyword phrase like that that's a great indication that more people are searching for it and it definitely is a trend on the rise all right next a huge trend on the rise is 90s and y2k designs these are going to be throwback products specifically for gen z and millennials i'm talking neon grunge punk velvet bubble gum pop all things 90s next up we're going to talk about shapes and this year shapes on the rise are abstract think anything from squiggles to pyramids to scallop shapes to arches to prisms and think about your specific designs and how you can maybe incorporate some of these more abstract shapes into them now let's move into home decor specific categories and what we're going to talk about are textured and raw edges we're not looking for something super finished and refined here we're looking for something with more of a raw feel we're talking countertops benches picture frames pretty much anything that could go in your home style wise that would be a little bit more unfinished next on the list are products that take it up a level in terms of personalization i'm talking engraved bracelets with a loved one's handwriting or prints based on your own child's artwork family portraits there are so many different options for this but people are loving more and more personalized and customized items our next one goes along with this which is home decor customized items so this could be a personalized welcome mat or a personalized engraved cutting board with your last name on it something that the buyer feels like they have had a hand in creating and making their own all right going back to home decor let's talk about lighting so this year people are really looking for statement lighting so these are lighting pieces that are both functional and almost like pieces of art when you walk into the house you see a lighting fixture that really makes a statement for your guests and believe it or not there's one specific type that is making a comeback and that is 70s lighting the etsy report shows that there's been a 368 increase year on year for the term 70s lighting okay let's totally shift to a different product category and that is paper and party supplies the 70s style is popular for lighting pieces this year but it's also popular for this product category as well so if you make cards invitations anything having to do with paper or party supplies think 60s and 70s we're talking 70s inspired color schemes fonts hippie groovy quirky patterns tropical plants and geometric patterns with pastel tones okay if you're in the wedding niche then this one is for you this is actually a bit surprising but there has been a rising trend for cheerful and bright wedding accessories and decor there's been a 311 increase year on year for the term colorful wedding items think invitations centerpieces name cards anything to do with wedding now of course personalized wedding items have always been popular and that trend isn't ending anytime soon personalized wedding items talking about both gifts and decor are still trending for 2022. an example of this is that there's been a 372 percent year-on-year increase for the term
