What Is Affiliate Marketing & How to Start Making Money (BEGINNER FRIENDLY)

six years ago i didn't even know what affiliate marketing was but if you fast forward today it's all i do every single day and i'm able to make five times as much as i did before with half as much work but what exactly is affiliate marketing and is it really possible to make a full-time income with something like this this video is going to dive in and show you exactly what it is and we're going to go look at the most common ways that affiliate marketers are making full-time incomes using this method but most importantly we're going to show you how you the viewer can get started with something like this first let's talk about what exactly affiliate marketing is now by and far the most common way that people do affiliate marketing is they build up audiences online and then they sell them a product what i mean by that is they go build up an audience on a place like facebook or youtube or instagram or tick tock they build up a bunch of followers then they go promote another company's product to those followers now the way that an affiliate marketer gets paid is they signed up to be an affiliate of that company that company in return gives them a special link that is only theirs for example you can see on the screen here an affiliate for any of the products that i sell would have a link that looks just like this now it's important to note at the end you can see it's got a referral equals spencer 68. that's the part that's unique to the affiliate so anybody that clicks this link and then buys a product on that site will now result in me getting commissions because this is my unique affiliate link now i'm going to tell you about something even a little bit cooler probably a vast majority of affiliate marketers out there don't even understand how this works if someone goes and clicks your link they head over to the website but then they get distracted right as people do and they go somewhere else and then a few days later they're like oh i forgot to buy this so they go back to the website every single time this is where cookies come into play so when someone clicks a link like what we're seeing on the screen right here the website that they go to is actually going to save information on their computer now i'm sure privacy advocates don't love that idea what this information does is allows the company to know 30 60 90 or even 120 days later where that referral came from found it for example if you go into the files in my chrome browser right now you'll see one of the files right here called under dash hstc but if you look in there one of the sub files there actually has r under dash spencer 68 right that same code that we just saw here a few seconds ago so when someone clicks that link it actually saves just a tiny file on their computer so that they now know the company now knows this person was referred by spencer 68 which is me i'm now going to get paid even though i actually sent this person to that website 30 60 90 days ago so cookies are a huge part of affiliate marketing and what makes it such a profitable industry i got cookies so to become an affiliate of most companies there's two routes some companies just allow you to go and sign up for example if you want to sign up for my affiliate program all you would have to do is enter in your information right here to create an account once you have an account it would look like this and you would be given an affiliate link that looks just like this one you're seeing on the screen now it's not that easy for all companies and a lot of big companies actually require you to put in some information and apply and then get approved but a lot of affiliate marketers get approved because you have to look at this from the company's perspective there's not a lot they have to lose here right they only pay you when you send them someone and it results in a sale so if you don't send them anybody and they don't get any sales you're really not a ton of skin off their back do they know each other so let's talk about the three primary ways that affiliate marketers are using these links and getting people to click these links and then making money now the first way is by and far my favorite way that people do this and i think it's the easiest way for new people to get started because it doesn't require a ton of skill now the way they do this is they use search engines i talk about search engines i'm talking about google i'm talking about youtube i'm talking about pinterest when we have a problem and we want a solution a vast majority of us head straight over to google and start to search or we head straight over to youtube and start to search for a solution to our problem so an affiliate marketer will create content around these solutions and then it will naturally include an affiliate link a great example of this could be best stroller for babies right a new father or a new mother is about to have a baby well someone could put a piece of content out on youtube a piece of content out on google that talks about the best stroller for babies and then in the description or in that blog post they can put this affiliate link that we're looking at right here and refer them to a product that can actually help them solve the problem they're looking for job well done so i love this method because you're actually just out there helping people and getting paid and the people that you're helping don't even have to pay you to help them now there's a there's a few different routes we take the easiest route is product reviews for example one of my favorite products that i use is called active campaign and it's a software that i use a lot in my business so i made a review of activecampaign people that are interested in buying activecampaign might be hesitant in the beginning to put out a lot of money so they search out a review to see if it actually will solve their problem when they type that in the first video that shows up is me there i am and i've made a review and i demo the product and help them to make a buying choice and say hey this is how i'm using activecampaign i love it it's working for me then i take that affiliate link that activecampaign has given me and i put it down in the description another great way you can go about this easily is doing comparisons so competitors of activecampaign are other softwares like mailchimp so you can see on the screen right there i make a mailchimp review and i compare it to activecampaign and then i tell people hey i much prefer activecampaign and i use my affiliate link to active campaign to get them to go sign up for activecampaign so that's the first type of video just reviews and comparisons very easy to do now the next type of video that we'll do in these search engines is
