the book is that like work harder work harder harder and harder until you achieve it it's no time to rest it's all about hard work it's all about dedication it's all about motivation it's all about discipline and all that stuff but when it comes to reality it's not about working harder it's actually working smarter working the system because let's say you work super super hard but when you work in the opposite direction from your goals then what is the meaning of hard work if you don't know what you're working for how you're working and if you don't know the system very well no matter how hard you work it can mean absolutely nothing the thing that we should do is stack the deck in our favor and not think that the hard work is the only way that we can achieve success before starting people deserved it and rich people worked for it this belief is called meritocracy and in the other side of the spectrum there is fatalism rich people got rich only from the luck that they have only from the things that they have from things that are out of their control for example maybe luck opportunities that they had timing talent fate of this stuff so the things that they cannot control but they're born with it maybe we like to think that i don't come from a very wealthy family or i didn't had that education i didn't do it when i was growing up so that is why i am not successful as them they had this and this and this of course they will be successful the thing that we should is not comparing ourselves to them and moaning but actually finding the unfair advantages that are unique to us the unfair advantages that we can use before explaining and talking about the main unfair advantages let us talk about the properties of unfair advantages in order to understand these better the thing that i want to clear out is that we all have unfair advantages it is impossible for you to not have an unfair advantage so your unfair advantage can be where you were born or the way you were raised or the amount of the money that you had or maybe the education even the negative things so maybe growing up poor or growing up in an undeveloped country can be your unfair advantage so you might say i don't have money i didn't get good education how can these can be unfair advantages but they can and i'll explain that it later your unfair advantages can't easily be copied or both your set of unfair advantage is unique to you yes you can improve some of them but you cannot easily copy them from someone else and the last thing is that unfair advantages are double edged sword as i said if you know how to use them they can be life changing and if you don't know how to use them even something that is positive they can damage you everything in life even the most simple thing can are five categories of them and the book unfair advantage the authors called it a miles framework let's start with money having a lot of money is obviously an unfair advantage once you have money it's easier to make money but i also do think that being able to make money is also an unfair even if you don't have money but if you have opportunity to make money it's also a huge unfair advantage let me give you an example from myself when starting this channel i think i spent around like 1k to 2k dollars for the setup that i had in the beginning i made this money from the part-time work that i had in japan during the summer holidays i was working at a restaurant i was making around like 10 ish dollars per hour and since i was working five times a week and five hours a day it wasn't really hard for me to make around like 1k to 2k during my summer holiday and i decided to invest to my youtube channel so if you are coming from a developed country you probably can also work part-time and you can also probably make around like maybe six dollars to 10 ish range but if you're not coming from a developed country for example turkey is a developing country the turkish currency has a very low value against u.s dollars japanese yens or euros or any currency that has high volume even like doctors in turkey new graduates don't make more than like thousand dollars if they are working for
