Etsy Q&a: Is My Niche Low Competition How Long To Make A Canva Template What If You Have No Skill?

when I asked you to submit questions for my 30 000 q a I actually got a lot of etsy questions so I decided to make a separate video for all the Etsy questions and then a separate video which came out last week on the other questions which are like personal questions and then questions about just running a business in general the first Etsy question is do you have any business related materials you use for your business or are you learning organically as you go no I did not get a course I just did everything myself I watched a couple of YouTube videos I read a couple of blogs I joined two Facebook groups and that's basically how I started my shop in the past I did use canva a lot for different kinds of things like making Instagram posts and marketing materials so I already knew how to use canva at like a basic or intermediate level I would say maybe intermediate and I also know some general SEO things from doing YouTube and then I also had a Blog before so I learned a bit about SEO which is search engine optimization before so for you if you want to start an Etsy Shop but you think you might not have the skills you can totally do it it might just take some time there's going to be a learning curve you can totally learn from YouTube videos oh and some mosquitoes I should have sprayed mosquito spray but also if you really know you want to start an Etsy shop I would say it isn't bad to invest in an Etsy course or some coaching because it can really help you speed things up because when you start any kind of business most of the time you're either going to invest a lot of time or you're going to invest a lot of money and for me I did both actually so not specifically for the Etsy business but I did invest in business coaching when I was doing my calligraphy business and my coaching business and I also bought a YouTube course is your Nishan Etsy Niche that already has high competition I want to know if you actually need to pick a niche that has low competition or even if it's high competition would it still be possible to become successful like you and your shop I just want to know if your Niche is a high competition one so I can get an idea that you can still become successful with it like even if it's a high competition Niche so I would say my Niche is not high competition I'll put some screenshots of how many search results there are when I search for my keywords and I would say even if you're trying to rank for a certain keyword and it has a lot more search results than me you really have to take a look at what are the other listings that are on there like are they actually good listings and I also think that if you have a good ad strategy you could probably do it if it's like a higher competition Niche like I think it all depends on the niche but I would say for me my Niche is pretty small and that's why I think partly that's the reason why my ads didn't work as well because I was already showing up so I didn't really need the ads I was already showing up on the first page please make a video on how to choose digital products as a beginner and a complete tutorial on setting up Etsy and getting sales so I actually did make a video on how I do market research so I would definitely watch that one so far I haven't really used market research tools yet like I literally just use Etsy and I think you can totally do all your research on Etsy it probably is helpful if you use market research tools so I wouldn't just do free market research I think for me I just I don't know I I don't know why I didn't use any didn't think it was needed because I had faith in my Niche I would say a good starting point is think about what subjects and topics and what niches you personally are interested and then use that and do your market research you're going to be making products for this Niche for a really long time so it's super helpful if you already have some kind of an interest or you have experience in it for example if you learn accounting or Finance in school then maybe look at Finance or budget spreadsheets stuff like that like Finance trackers and things like that on Etsy because you already know a lot about that marketing photos so you can check that out after you watch this video how we start Etsy with mobile phone that's actually a great question if you don't have a laptop I honestly think it might be a bit hard I don't know how you would do that I do have canva on my phone and it's really really limited I don't think I could make the same kind of templates on my phone using canva I actually haven't tried uploading listings to Etsy with my phone I don't even know if you can do that even if you don't have your own laptop see if you can borrow one from a friend or go to the library and use their computers also if your goal is to just start an Etsy shop selling digital products I think you could get a very cheap laptop because you're it's not like you're starting a YouTube channel and doing video editing and then you need the computer to be really fast to do the video editing so I would say even a cheap laptop is good or just go to the library and you can start off that way once you start making money then you can invest in something better if I'm a complete beginner and have no skill whatever I only have a language laptop and internet how much time will it take me to make a 100 on Etsy I would actually ask you why do you want to start an Etsy shop if you have no skills okay I think everybody has skills if you don't have the specific skills you need for Etsy for example if you don't know how to use canva or some other graphic design software I would challenge you on why you want to start an Etsy shop it's because you see everybody else starting an Etsy shop and making money or have you really thought about why you want to start an Etsy Shop there's actually a lot of different kinds of side businesses you can start like freelancing and I would also say if you aren't really familiar with like building a business another really useful thing to do is to get a part-time job helping somebody who owns a business or helping like a content creator or another Etsy owner because then you get some training along the way and then maybe after you worked for that person for a year or maybe half a year or two years then you have some skill and you have the knowledge to start something of your own but how do you do the research and know which Niche could be profitable I'm a bit afraid to fail but we'll start next month and how long does making a template take you so when I started my Etsy Shop six months ago I have to be honest I didn't do that much market research because I was pretty confident in my Niche I do think your Niche is probably one of the most important things when you start your Etsy shop it
