Alternative investments and assets are some of the most misunderstood types of investments…but they can also make you the most money. Alternative assets returns can be multiple levels higher than stocks or bonds but they can also crash faster. This is one asset class you definitely need to understand before you invest.

In this livestream, I’ll take you step by step into the world of alternative investments. I’ll explain alternative assets and give you six examples. I’ll show you the pros and cons of investing in alternative assets and reveal the returns in each. I’ll then give you a roadmap for how much to invest in everything from crypto to art, NFTs and collectibles.

Alternative investments are an asset class separate from stocks, bonds and real estate. That’s because they have different characteristics like liquidity and how prices are affected by the economy or other factors. It’s also an imperfect market which can make pricing very difficult.

Because of the risks though and that imperfect market, returns on alternative assets can be much higher than other types of investments. Types of alternative investments include private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, crypto, NFTs, art and collectibles.

In the past, regular investors haven’t had access to invest in many of these alt assets. Regulations prohibited anyone with less than a million dollar net worth from investing in private equity, hedge funds or venture capital. That’s all changing and Main Street investors have lots of choices among investments outside of stocks and bonds.

Despite the higher potential for returns, you shouldn’t have more than a third of your money in alternative investments. Alternative assets are a good investment but you should never have too much of your money in a single asset class. The risks in these types of investments mean they could all tumble quickly and destroy your portfolio so you want to always have something in stocks, bonds and real estate as well.
