so when was the last time that you treated yourself although you may be prioritizing saving money or paying off debt having some fun money is important and if you're worried about blowing your budget or overspending or you're not sure how to treat yourself we're going to talk about that in this video and I'm going to be sharing key tips on how you can treat yourself within reason without blowing your budget and still sticking to your financial goals hi everyone my name is Bol shumi I'm the founder and CEO of CL girl Finance I'm also the author of The CLG girl Finance book series and my most recent book choosing to prosper welcome to CLG girl Finance TV so in today's video I'm going to be sharing some key tips with you on how to reward yourself how to treat yourself within reason without blowing your budget and still being able to stick to the goals you have set for yourself number one is the most obvious one and this is to build your your fun money into your budget you want to have a line item in your budget where you put small amounts of money that are guilt-free where if you want to treat yourself right you're able to do that without it impacting any of your goals it can be really difficult and demotivating to keep paying off debt keep paying bills keep paying for this and that and not having the opportunity to do something nice for yourself or do something that you enjoy doing and it can be simple things like going out to eat getting your nails done getting your hair done going to your favorite coffee store uh getting your favorite um audible book or book series you want to be able to treat yourself so you feel like you're not just paying off debt you're not just paying bills you're not just saving money and not able to do something for yourself so build that line item into your budget and put a small amount in a separate account dedicated to fund where you can just put money there and if you want to splurge on yourself within reason you have that money there that you can spend and it is guilt-free and one great way to fund that fund money account is that every time you pay a chunk of your debt or you reach a debt payoff Milestone you can put a little bit of money in that account to reward yourself and you can spend it later number two if you don't need to spend it save it so you may find that you know what you're in a good place you don't really need to reward yourself right now you don't want to treat yourself right now and that's okay leave the money in your account leave the money in that treatyourself account you don't have to spend it if you don't want to you may even decide that you know what I want to take the money I've saved my fund money bucket and put it into my saving or investment accounts or put it towards my debt and then start saving over again in my fund money category and that is perfectly fine but you want to make sure that you have that option in the event that you do feel like you want to treat yourself that you can do that and not feel guilty about it and not feel like you're derailing yourself from your other financial goals number three don't get caught up in comparison be grateful for what you have you may see on social social media or here on YouTube or in your real life that you know what people are doing all these things for themselves they're buying nice clothes they're taking nice trips they have the nice cars a nice house but you're here just paying off debt and paying bills and trying to save and you may start to compare yourself to those people don't do it you know the saying that comparison is a thief of joy and that's what it is it will steal your joy and your peace of mind don't overextend yourself while you're pursuing your financial goals to spend money to impress people or buy things to impress people those things don't matter instead focus on yourself and focus on being grateful for what you have it's a great idea to start a gratitude journaling habit where you write down things you're grateful for on a daily basis and you reflect on them and by doing so you're able to build contentment you're able to have peace you're able to rejuvenate yourself and stay focused on what it is that you want to achieve so don't compare yourself to anyone the only comparison you should be doing should be you comparing yourself to you and how you want to do better number four you want to reward yourself with things that matter to you so as you're putting money into that fun money account make sure you're spending your money uh on things that you value and that are meaning meaningful to you and that align with your core values uh this can help you stay satisfied the last thing you want to do is just have some spare money sitting around that you just spare you just spend on random things that you don't like or you don't want because this on the other hand can leave you feeling dissatisfied and can also lead to overspending so ensure that whatever you're spending money on that fun money you put aside is something that you value something that is Meaningful to you something that will truly bring you Joy and not because you're trying to keep up with anybody or because you just want to spend the money to just spend the money you don't want that you will feel dissatisfied the goal of that reward money that fund money is to get a sense of satisfaction so that you can stay empowered and motivated to keep moving towards that debt payoff goal or keep moving towards that savings goal by the way if you are enjoying this video please hit the
