12 Saving Tips That Made Me A Millionaire
hey guys welcome to silicon valley girl today we're going to talk about saving money the thing is i come from a family that didn't have a lot of money and my mom would always tell me to save to save to save and there was this mindset that you have to save in order to afford something versus you need to spend your money wisely and invest them in order to grow your net worth today we're going to talk about the tips i've started applying a few years ago and yes i am following these youtube rules where you have to click bait with a millionaire in your title or thumbnail this is the game we have to play but it is a reality that i was able to make a bit over a million last year using the rules that i'm gonna talk about in this video so if you're interested continue watching up to the very end some advice that i would give in this video may sound counter-intuitive and you don't have to follow it but the thing is when i change my mindset to whatever i'm going to be talking about in this video things started changing now let's talk about this louis vuitton and a lot of people would say oh marina you're buying it just to brag about things and uh yes it has this feature to it you're like showing off that you can afford it but the thing is when i got my first look before i got my first louis vuitton bag i would buy bags from h m bags from benetton gap whatever they would be like 30 bags 40 bags and i had around 20 of them but once i got a signature very expensive bag i realized i just want to carry it everywhere and i don't need anything else but right now you won't believe it i own three bags i own this i own a bigger backpack to travel with my kids which i got for free from youtube and another beach bag that again i got for free uh when i was buying makeup at neyman marcus and so when i was growing up i was told don't buy expensive things who would buy i don't know how much was it but like a thousand or maybe a thousand five hundred dollars like who would buy a fifteen hundred dollar hem bag and it doesn't have to be that expensive but something that you consider you yourself can consider a signature piece something they would that you would want to wear every day and something that would be high quality i got this in 2018. i don't want to get anything else if i follow the same pattern that i was following several years ago getting all the different facts from h m i would have a lot more bags and i would still be unhappy so louis vuitton definitely changed this mindset another great thing about owning and buying expensive pieces is that it's actually easier to sell them later because i don't imagine a lot of people wanting to buy your old h m bag and no offense h m but uh when i had their bags for a year you know you just throw them away with these bags it's kind of easy to resell them there are a lot of platforms like the real real etc and i've sold a couple of my designer pieces for almost the same price that i got them for so i think in the long run buying more expensive things can actually save you money quick comment down below let's do this mini research can you comment down below what type of family you come from did your parents tell you to save money all the time or did they tell you to invest in higher quality things to consume less or did they teach you to invest in stocks let me know down below that's an interesting one another cool advice from a person who's been renting for over six years is having the stranger's mindset the thing is i lived with my parents till i was 25 years old at the age of 25 we raised money in silicon valley so that was a great opportunity to move in with my then boyfriend and now husband dmitry and we rented an apartment and a one bedroom apartment in mountain view and then we rented a day one bedroom in san francisco then we rented another one bedroom in san francisco and we're into day two bedroom in san francisco and now we moved to a house but the thing is i have this renter's mindset and i realize you know we're renting this so we might be here for another couple years and then we'll have to move again and knowing how difficult the whole process of moving is i always want to be ready for it which means do i want this extra piece of furniture well maybe if it improves my well-being and actually believe in investing in your environment i just don't believe in buying too many things so if there is a lamp that i want to make my house cozier i would definitely buy it but if there is a piece on sale which i don't really need i would always think twice because i know if i have more stuff i would have to rent a bigger truck when we move i will have to spend another couple of hours packing so this renter's mindset is actually amazing and i hope i still maintain it when we end up buying something because right now for example for example my parents they have so much stuff in their two bedroom because they've never rented so you always have this place where you store things that you no longer need because you don't actually need to go through them but if you're renting you keep your stuff to a minimum the next thing that can help you save a ton of money is actually decluttering your old closets the thing is if something is in a closet where you store things and i had the exact same situation with my closet in my studio i would just put all the stuff there and forget about it now i emptied that closet completely because i realized that i kept buying things that i already had and it's easy to forget about things that you have when it comes to things like chords for your cameras or when it comes to things like adapters for your mic you're like oh i don't want to bother looking for it i'll just get a new one which again just leads you to spending money and the same goes for kids clothes because you can have this mindset oh i will go through my kids old clothes when we get another baby but the thing is when you get another baby you don't have time for it so we organized all of the kids clothes based on their age and now we don't have to go through them and when emily turns nine we know which box to refer to and this prevents me from buying stuff that i already have so once a month i have this tradition tradition that i go through old stuff reorganize it put it into boxes put it into containers this way i know what i already have of course it's important to note that you don't become a millionaire just by buying a louis vuitton bag or storing your things in containers it is important to find something that you will love doing and something that will generate income for you this video is more about building habits and building the way you behave when you have money because we've heard all of those stories when celebrities who made millions end up being bankrupt because they didn't know how to treat wealth and they would go out and splurge on mansions and expensive cars instead of investing instead of living a more frugal lifestyle in order to grow their
